Our hot lunch program ran every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the Fall and Winter semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. This year, our wonderful student cooks were Tasnimah Ahmed, Yura Koh, Tara Haghighi, Justine Magbitang, Yannan Ma and Elliot Black. Together, they cooked various varieties of vegan dishes for more than 200 students every week. The team was determined to cater to the diverse ethnic needs of the student body when it comes to food and would celebrate different cultures by making the traditional dishes of their cuisines.
Winter Feast is the Student Union’s annual winter-themed event hosted at the end of the exam period in December, before the school’s holiday closure. It started in response to the volume of international students that could not go home for the holiday break. It offers an opportunity for OCAD students to come together to share food, stories, and traditions, and to create a sense of community. Last year, Winter Feast took place on 14th December, 2023. The student body celebrated the end of the semester by coming together for food, activities and karaoke. Special thanks goes to the International Student Support Office with their generous donation of $500 to contribute to the event as well as Campus Life and the amazing welcome squad leaders. We were also able to hire students to support the event. Aman Deshmukh was our photographer and captured many lovely photos, Madeline Yee our poster designer, Lotus Tsang led an awesome karaoke activity and a winter themed ornament workshop. Also, shoutout to our hot lunch team who cooked all the delicious food for the event!
